Village plans underway for The Queen’s Jubilee Celebrations
Queen’s Platinum Jubilee event for the Wilbrahams and Six Mile Bottom – Sunday June 5 2022
The Hall Committee have been working behind the scenes to make plans for a celebration on the Rec for the Queen’s Jubilee on Sunday June 5th. It needs to be simple to organise, appeal to all ages and be a memorable day that brings the whole community together on this special day. Printed invitations will go out to every house in the 3 villages.
Ideas so far are:
- Bring and share picnic lunch
- (each family to bring a savoury and sweet plate of finger food for sharing, plus blanket / table & chairs for themselves).
- Soft drinks and teas / coffees served from the hall
- Social club to run a paid bar and a paid BBQ
Entertainments:
- Tofty club band
- Choir
- Bell ringing?
- Maypole dancing? The school have offered to lend us the maypole if someone can organise the school children to dance.
- Best crown / dressing up competition for kids?
- Stalls – eg coconut shy, face painting etc.
- Mass photo and speech / toast / wave flags for the Queen.
Do you have any other ideas, and could you get involved? We just need some teams of willing helpers to break the organisation down into manageable chunks, so it is not too much for any one person or group.
If so, please come along to a quick planning meeting on Wednesday 23 March in the Memorial Hall Meeting Room at 7.30pm. If you can’t make the meeting, but have some ideas / can help on the day or beforehand, please email Emma Adams on mail@emma-adams.co.uk
Many thanks
