The Spud in a Bucket competition returns!
The Wilbrahams’ and Six Mile Bottom Vegetable, Flower and Produce Show, 2023, July 15th , 2023
For those of you that have not taken part in this competition before, the idea is to pick up your potato, ready chitting, from Trish Davis in 13, Toft Lane, GW, or Rosie White, 13, High Street, GW, (20p entry fee), and then to grow it in a 1.4L bucket, (buckets of the right size are available at £1), until a few days before the Village Show in July.
The potato plants are then gathered in, (still in the bucket), and the tubers are tipped out and weighed. The winner is the one with the heaviest crop of potatoes and will be awarded the Richard Wright Cup.
Pick up your potato from Monday 13 February.
