The Wilbrahams’ & Six Mile Bottom Vegetable, Flower & Produce Show

THE annual gardening, craft and baking bonanza that is the Vegetable, Flower and Produce Show is taking over the Memorial Hall once more on Saturday July 15.  Doors open at 14:30, so get there early to meet up with friends over a cup of tea and cake while you check out who are this year’s champion growers, bakers and artists.

Timetable: 

14:30: Doors open for public viewing, tea and cakes

15:45: Prize Giving

16:00: Auction of donated produce followed by the raffle, which this year will have some super prizes donated by local business.

If you are competing, remember to check your green schedule for entry rules and instructions, which are not the same for all categories.  Plants (including those in the plant plug competition), flowers, vegetables and baked goods must be brought to the Hall on the morning of the Show from 09:00 to 11:00, in good time for judging, which is done in private and means that everyone must have left the Hall by 11:15.  Anything submitted after 11:00 will not be judged. Remember, the judges are unimpeachable! 

The exceptions are the spud-in-a-bucket entries and digital photography competition. 

Spuds in buckets should not be watered after Monday 10th July (makes for less messy compost for the judges to deal with) and are to be delivered to 13 High St. Great Wilbraham by Wednesday 12th with the green leaves removed.  This is to allow plenty of time for the buckets to be emptied and the potatoes weighed and bagged up.  Please make sure that your bucket is clearly labelled with your name and contact details.  You can collect your bucket with your potatoes from the same address after the Show. The heaviest yield grown from one tuber wins the Richard Wright Cup.

Digital photographs need to be emailed to vfpphotos@gmail.com by midnight on 12th July to give time for judging.  They will be compiled into a digital display to be shown in the hall on the day of the show.
