Proposals for changes to Newmarket Road and the Park & Ride
The GCP’s (Greater Cambridge Partnership) Cambridge Eastern Access proposals include transformational changes to Newmarket Road to provide high-quality footways, crossings, segregated cycle tracks, bus lanes and junction improvements. The proposals include relocating and expanding the Newmarket Road Park & Ride site.
The scheme aims to:
- Improve the green space on Newmarket Road
- Provide better connections by improving existing and providing new pedestrian crossings
- Encourage people to change to walking, cycling and public transport rather than using private cars
- Provide improved bus stop facilities and bus priority measures. Enable increased levels of walking and cycling by residents living along Newmarket Road
- Support the delivery of sustainable planned developments including Marleigh.
The GCP wants to:
- Understand and incorporate the views of local residents, businesses, stakeholders and all road users into our proposals.
- This feedback will be vital in helping to shape how the final Newmarket Road scheme designs are developed and taken forward.
