Music in Fulbourn 2023

2022 saw Fulbourn Arts either presenting or supporting a wide variety of music events – with many people attending at least one – and many of those people coming to several performances. We have been lucky to be a stop on one singer/songwriter’s UK tour (from USA) and others included Fulbourn in their national tours. We have hosted local, emerging talent and some bands who are well-known on the ‘Cambridge circuit’. The Winter Festival gave an opportunity for our youth club bands and other local musicians and singers to play to audiences. The piano concert (in aid of EACH) showcased some unbelievable local young talent, and St Vigor’s was the venue to host the first performance of Fulbourn Woodwinds.

Fulbourn Arts now wants to build on these successes. We have seen what a huge amount of musical talent and interest we have in the village.

Our ‘mission’ in 2023 is to offer a variety of emerging and established talents – whatever the genre. We would very much like to broaden the range of music available to local audiences. You can help us, by letting us know what you would like – and more importantly making suggestions of performers we could work with.

We are lucky to have spaces like St Vigor’s, The Townley Memorial Hall, The Six Bells, URC – and outdoors. The Fulbourn Institute Sports & Social Club, and our local pubs also present musical performances – so we will aim to find the most appropriate venue for the performance and potential audience size.

So – do you sing, play an instrument, like to dance, belong to a band or group of musicians (or know someone who does)? Would you like the opportunity to bring your music to a local venue, with local audiences?

We can support you in a number of ways – from finding and booking a venue, selling tickets through our online ticketing system, finding sound engineers, advertising via posters, social media, our website and through our links with other village websites and media – or fully managing your event.  Contact fulbournarts@gmail.com to arrange a discussion of how we can help you.

Hip Hop in Fulbourn..

Fulbourn Arts are hoping to work closely with FA4Y to introduce regular sessions with SIN Cru, who worked with some of our young people before and during the Festival, following receiving some requests to hold regular youth sessions of Hip Hop – fitness and street dance – for children from year 5 and upwards.

Sessions held during November were great fun, and encouraged children to learn steps, moves and routines. SIN Cru have been working with kids through hip hop culture for 25 years, and have won awards and accolades for their work. (www.sincru.co.uk).

We are more likely to be successful in starting the sessions if we have a list of people wishing to attend. Fees will be minimal.
