Greater Cambridge Partnership community forum

There was a post over the weekend alerting you to Wednesday’s online community forum regarding travel (Wednesday 16th November 6-8pm).  The Parish Councils would strongly recommend people to attend and/or to fill out the surveys on the Greater Cambridge Partnership website as the plans are likely to have major effects on how we all travel in the future.

Some of the key areas of interest for our villages are:

1) New cycle routes potentially including those linking to the Wilbrahams,

2) Transforming the bus network (mid-2023) – the plans propose hourly buses and cheaper fares, but the route is to Newmarket Road Park and Ride via Fulbourn rather than direct to Cambridge.  Fulbourn is linked directly to the City Centre and to Addenbrookes via Cherry Hinton High Street (i.e. going round via Tesco’s store),

3) Charging zone (fully operational in 2027/28) – All vehicles will be charged per day (£5 per car) for driving into Cambridge between 7am and 7pm.  The area included covers all of Cambridge (roughly the area inside the ring of Park and Rides) including Addenbrookes.  Cherry Hinton and Milton Tesco stores are outside the zone.
