Anyone for Tennis? – Construction Has Commenced

Well its started.  Groundwork for the new tennis court for the villages located in Little Wilbraham commenced this morning at 7am.  The first phase is due to be finished tomorrow (Saturday the 11th) and involves shifting tons of topsoil, laying a membrane and adding road chippings as a base.

The soil removed will be made into a bank that will both act as a viewing area and also help reduce the sound for nearby residents.  We can see the local children and maybe the odd adult, using it as a playground as well and it is a great spot for the beacon!

Besides tennis, the multi use games court will have netball hoops and also a basket ball hoop

It is projected that the court will be ready for use around mid August so look out for an opening function to celebrate this fabulous new addition to the village recreation facilities.

For those of you who are unaware of the location of the court you can see the Ken Davison Recreation Ground HERE.

Excavated bank for viewing and lots of other fun roles.

First preference for use will be for Little Wilbraham, Great Wilbraham and Six Mile Bottom residents and there will be an online booking system where residents can view availability and book a slot.  At this stage we envisage any one booking will be for a maximum of 2 hours but experience will tell.

If you have any questions about the court as its being built or on future use, then contact the parish council.

On another matter

If you have any glasses from the lighting of the Queen’s Jubilee Event held on the 2nd June, we would love to have them back as they are washed and used again to save single use plastic cups.

It was a fabulous night with upwards of 300 attending so a big thanks for your support it was much appreciated.
