A to B1102 Group’s recommendations

This is an ambitious and transformative plan to revitalise our dire (lack of) bus services.

After an amazing amount of hard work to gather data and make very compelling cases, the A to B1102 Group’s recommendations are essentially for:

  1.  A new regular fast Soham – Fordham – Burwell – Swaffhams – Lode Crossroads – Quy – Cambridge bus service;
  2.  A bus service linking Newmarket and Burwell to Reach, the Swaffhams, Lode, Bottisham, the Wilbraham’s, Fulbourn, the Biotech Campus / Addenbrookes, Cambridge South Station and Long Road Sixth Form College. This would provide links between Bottisham and both Anglesey Abbey and other nearby villages, with more frequent services during peak hours and offer students a quicker, more reliable way of accessing further education in Cambridge (Hills Road, Long Road, The Oaks College;
  3.  Bus connections at hubs in some villages; these being key to enabling onward transit or for people to access between bus services or other modes of transport.

We will be providing more detail as a parish council as to how Great Wilbraham can support this momentous effort, but it looks promising and the proposal will soon be ready for the Mayors review.

If you are a resident of Great Wilbraham and you would like a revolutionary bus service for the villages, please join with the Parish Council as we double down on efforts this year to raise awareness of the scheme and petition the council to take action and make this a reality.

More to come, the scheme proposal will also be featured in the Cambridge Evening News this week, you heard it from your dedicated Parish Council first!
